Freshwater Pearls

My rep visited today with such a huge selection of freshwater pearls to choose from. The colours, lustre and cost ranging hugely. I picked on these beautiful Keshi pearls, Biwa pearls and Akoya pearls all in shades of peacock greys, dove greys and brilliant whites. I can't wait to get creating with these gems, incorporating them with aqua sea glass and semi-precious stones. Pearls of the sea!

The Wave Bangle

I have just been photographing my Wave bangle for a magazine article. I think it works really well against the granite lined stones that I have sprayed silver to highlight and pick up the polished silver of the bangle. There has been a lot of interest in this piece and it is selling well.

Star fish and love..

I made this bracelet for a client who wanted something special for her best friends birthday. The words that she could choose from were LIVE, LOVE or WILD. She went for this.. I love the addition of the star fish and freshwater pearl as her friend lived by the coast. I used D shaped silver wire for the bangle, then pierced a round circle from silver sheet, hammered and domed and then letter impressed the wording. Finally polished and oxidised the silver to blacken it to highlight the wording and texture. A lot of work goes into the completion of a piece!

Searching for Sea glass

Much time is spent searching for sea glass when out on the beach, walking the dogs. Its quite a struggle to find much on the North Cornish coast, much glass being replaced by plastics, but every now and again I find a gem like this. Its like finding an emerald amongst the sand!

New designs

I spent the day in the studio today coming up with some new designs.  I love this chain and decided aqua coloured sea glass and pearls dangling from it worked really well. They will be heading to the shop Jaunty Seagull in Bude where they stock and sell my work. More designing tomorrow, my favourite thing!
